Acclaim, the video game publisher known for popular titles in the ‘80s and ‘90s, is making a return with a vision for the current gaming scene. After more than twenty years, a group of experienced individuals has come together to revive this well-known gaming brand.

Founded in 1987, Acclaim became a significant developer, publisher, and marketer, responsible for bringing well-loved games like Mortal Kombat, Turok, and NBA Jam to consoles. Today, Acclaim continues its original approach by supporting promising independent developers and delivering quality indie games to players worldwide. Acclaim’s return reflects the lasting appeal of its brand.

History

Acclaim was one of the most successful publishers of console video games in the world. Three men joined together to create a vision for a new type of games company focusing on fan service and innovation.

Acclaim Entertainment, Inc., was founded in 1987 as a Delaware corporation. Over the next 17 years, the company became a leading worldwide developer, publisher, and mass marketer. Industry-changing titles such as Mortal Kombat, NBA Jam, Turok, and dozens of others flew through the Acclaim machine to find homes with fans worldwide.

The company’s headquarters were located in Glen Cove, New York, and its common stock was publicly traded on the US Stock Exchange (NASDAQ symbol AKLM).

During the games' winter of 2025, a team of industry veterans came together to bring Acclaim's prestige back to the industry, supporting developers and fans alike. This is the beginning of a new era of Acclaim.
